Iraqi cinema’s godfather
Iraqi Cinema’s CEO, Mr. Zaid F. Jawad is a self-motivated entrepreneur and film enthusiast. Driven by his passion for the movie industry and by his determination to provide the best and latest film experience to Iraq. Mr. Zaid holds a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, established the first Iraqi Cinema branch in 2011 despite the rocky situation at that time.
From this small step, Iraqi Cinema’s family grew to include more than 200 employees. He participated with the Iraqi basketball national team and started his career as a Sales Manager for East Sugar Company in 1997 after working as a Marketing and Sales Manager at LG MOBILE, Delta, NOKIA, Mountaineering Agent of SAMSUNG MOBILE, and established his own company for mobile device for trad and repairing. Born in Baghdad in 1971, Mr. Zaid saw massive opportunities in the great Iraqi market. His objective was to promote the art of cinema, as well as to raise awareness on the art of filmmaking among his fellow Iraqis. Thanks to his efforts and dedication, cinema was the first form of entertainment to break ground in Iraq after the recent war.
Following a decade of uncertainty, Mr. Zaid utilized his influence and love for seventh art to become a storyteller of a sort. His deeds speak of man’s passion for building a robust industry in Iraq, as well as morphing his struggles with the less than rosy reality to make art in his homeland. This is the true image of Iraqi Cinema’s CEO and Godfather, Mr. Zaid Jawad.
Nevertheless, Mr. Zaid was able to overcome obstacles and convince the distributors of being professional entrepreneurs by committing to prevent any illegal leakage. He proved once and for all that Iraqi Cinema was more than capable of protecting works of art, hence allowing feature films to be shown on the same day as the international movie release dates.
